Louth Scouts search for a campsite

Louth Scouts are hoping to provide a safe, well run campsite for the whole of the community to enjoy.

Since 1st and 2nd Louth Scout Group’s HQ fell into disrepair and sold, the group has been looking for a new place to call home.

They embraced the opportunity to really consider what the young people want out of Scouting and not surprisingly they found they wanted an alternative to their indoor home life - a place where they could be outside, somewhere full of adventure, where they have room to play and be with their friends.

The Group Leaders decided that a campsite would be the perfect fit.

Initial enquiries were not fruitful so they are appealing for any land owners to come forward.

Whilst the initial plan is for the site to be used by the Scouts once all the facilities are up and running they plan to hire it out to other Groups and organisations, making it an excellent resource for the whole of the community.

They are looking for a minimum of four acres, preferably within a three to four mile radius of Louth town centre, with adequate access for cars and a mains water supply.

There would be a need to build toilet and other related facilities on the site.

If you or you know someone who would be prepared to sell or lease land please contact Louth District Executive Representative, Tony Groom on 01507 354389.
