Louth teen Phoebe has her locks chopped in dad's memory

Phoebe Mumby,14, lost her father to the disease in 2012 and wanted to raise some money now as a thank you to St Barnabas Hospice for supporting him.

Phoebe, who attends King Edward VI Grammar School in Louth, said: “Thanks to everyone’s kind donations I have managed to raise £440 for St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice, who do an amazing thing and are so kind.

“This is a cause very close to my heart as I lost my dad to cancer and they helped to look after him.

“ They really supported my family as well and I can’t thank them enough.

“So this is my way of saying thank you to them.”

Phoebe had her hair cut off at Airtons Hair Salon in Louth to raise funds for the hospice. She also sent off her hair to the Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for children who have lost their hair through illness.

Phoebe added: “They are an amazing charity who do such a kind thing for children with cancer who have lost there hair.”

Phoebe recently presented the money she had raised to Nicky Ingall from St Barnabas Hospice.

Karen Jaines, Phoebe’s auntie, said: “Phoebe has done an amazing thing and we are all so proud of her for what she has done to raise all this money for charity.”
