Louth to host it's first Triathlon event.

Louth is hosting a Triathlon event on Sunday, September 7 at the Meridian Leisure Centre and organisers hope it become an annual event.

Triathlon is the fastest growing sport in the UK and is a great sport for anyone wishing to improve cardiovascular fitness, lose weight, or have a go at something new for fun.

The Sport starts with indoor sprint events based around 16 lengths in the pool and various distances for the bike and run, with the event at Louth having a 22km bike ride and 6km run.

SBR Events has set up the event to come to Louth for the first time in years.

Chris Coveley, fitness manager at the Meridian Leisure Centre commented: “We are delighted that SBR Events have highlighted Louth as the venue for the company’s first venture in Triathlon events.

“This allows us to continue our support for the sport and a great first time event for the local community.

“With a thriving club based here and the growth of the sport it’s a huge positive for Louth. The venue lends itself to events like this and we will be working with SBR Events to make the day a huge success.”

Louth also has it’s very own Triathlon club, with members taking part at this event. For more information about Louth Triathlon Club, email club chairman Simon Sharp on: chairman@louthtriclub.co.uk.

SBR Events are also looking for some volunteers to help out on the day for a few hours to assist with parking, traffic management on the cycling route and run route to cheer the athletes on and ensure their safety, you will be needed from 8am-1pm.

To volunteer please call Amanda at SBR Events on 07850 572838.

So come and have a go, or just come down to support the event on the day which takes place from 9am-1pm as part of a team or as an individual and take part in the first triathlon in Louth.
