A woman from Louth is celebrating this week after completing her diploma with the Society of Botanical Artists (SBA) and being awarded a prestigious prize for her portfolio.

Jennifer Goodwin, of Upgate, completed her Distance Learning Diploma Course with the SBA last week.

She graduated with Distinction, and also received the prize for the Best Final Portfolio of three paintings. She received her prize, a book, from her course leader Simon Williams.

Mrs Goodwin said: “I owe my long-standing interest in botanical painting to local artist Jan Hill, in whose class I began my studies.

“I enjoyed the rigorous and challenging course, and I am delighted to have pleased the judges and to have had my final three paintings chosen for the SBA’s annual exhibition, held in Westminster.

“My work is known to many in the Louth area, and I shall next be exhibiting my work in the Marshchapel Arts Exhibition, from July 10 to July 13.”
