Louth woman damaged car after '˜false rumours' online

Jane Louise Smith (also known as Louise Harding), of Watts Lane, Louth admitted damaging the car windows and also threatening and abusive behaviour, when she appeared at Skegness Magistrates’ Court on July 12.

Marie Stace, prosecuting, said Smith went to St Bernard’s Avenue in Louth in an aggressive mood looking for someone and behaved ‘very aggressively’ towards that person’s mother and father when she couldn’t find her.

She said Smith went away and then returned with a brick and a paving slab, which she threw through the window of their car.

She admitted it to the police and apologised for causing the damage but said she had a right to be angry.

Mitigating, Gary Farmer said Smith had gone to look for someone who had been spreading false rumours about her on the social media site Facebook.

He said she had offered to pay for the damage.

The magistrates imposed a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered Smith to pay £150 in compensation and £60 in costs and charges.
