Mablethorpe jobs fair that took place on Friday (February 21) has been hailed a ‘success’ with hundreds of job seekers in attendance.

Local jobseekers were matched with potential employers which included local businesses such as Haven, Lindum Construction, Park Resorts and the Dunes Complex.

As well as both full and part time job opportunities and permanent and temporary jobs, attendees could also take advantage of recruitment training advice and information on apprenticeships and volunteering opportunities.

The Council’s portfolio holder for economic development, Coun Craig Leyland, said: “This event was well attended showing the need for such an event in the area.

“In a district such as East Lindsey, seasonal employment makes up a large proportion of the work force, so the winter months can be particularly difficult.

“It is therefore encouraging to see so many local employers offering over 100 job vacancies at a time when people are keen to get back into employment.”

With over 2,000 people claiming Jobseekers’ Allowance in the East Lindsey area, these events were aimed at helping potential employees understand the jobs market and access the jobs and training opportunities that are on offer.

June Howard, of Job Centre Plus, added: “The event was a great success with positive comments from both exhibitors and job seekers.

“The increase in numbers from last year is also very encouraging and shows the importance of these events in local communities as part of the job seeking experience.”
