Mablethorpe lifeboat's brave crew members Shaun Riggall, Carl Holmes, Nathan Chapman and Jamie Brant will be abseiling down the Humber Bridge next month to raise funds for the RNLI - Louth Leader

FOUR brave lifeboat crewmen from Mablethorpe will scale the Humber Bridge in a daring abseiling challenge to raise money for the RNLI.

Local crewmen Shaun Riggall, 39, Carl Holmes, 37, Nathan Chapman, 29, and Jamie Brant, 20, will launch themselves 110ft down on to the Hessle foreshore below on Saturday, May 26.

Each is aiming to raise a minimum of £150 sponsorship, and are forking out £30 themselves to cover the costs.

Senior helmsman Shaun Riggall, a joiner by day and RNLI volunteer in his spare time for the past 18 years, said: “We’re all revved up and looking forward to it.

“I don’t think any of us are scared of heights, but I guess we’ll soon find out!

“We’re all Mablethorpe lads and we’re hoping people will support us so we can raise as much as we can for the RNLI.”

Sponsor the four crewmen by visiting www.virginmoneygiving.com/team/MablethorpeRNLI, pop into the RNLI shop or see the lads themselves.

The RNLI-organised event is also calling on members of the public to take part, all they have to do is be able to raise £150 sponsorship and fund the £30 fee.

Around 300 spaces are available for people to join in, visit the website www.rnli.org.uk or call 0161 7878779 for details.
