Mablethorpe’s new market day pencilled in for June 26

THE possible date for the change of Mablethorpe’s weekly market day from a Thursday to a Tuesday has been announced.

East Lindsey District Council still say they are still only ‘considering’ the day move, but told traders last week that the likely date if the change takes place will be Tuesday, June 26.

Last week we reported the petition started by local restauranteur Dave Ives to keep the market on a Thursday.

The council planned to move the market to a Tuesday due to them replacing their two old vehicles with a single newer one, but logistics issues and a clash with the Horncastle Market on a Thursday gave them a headache.

The market moved to the High Street from Station Road for a trial period earlier this month.

The council say the moves should make markets ‘a better place to shop’ for all.
