A business in Mablethorpe is reflecting on its national recognition after bagging one of The Guardian’s Small Business Showcase Awards.
Made 2 Measure Mirrors is the trading name of Concorde Glass and is a small independently run business based in Waterloo Road in the town and has come out on top of over 100 entries to win one of The Guardian newspaper’s National Small Business Awards in the ‘cashflow’ category.
The Leader reported on this local business back in February when they had made the shortlist and the final awards ceremony took place last Tuesday evening in Central London.
Marketing manager for the business, Ali Jenkins said: “We were delighted to hear we had been shortlisted and so when we were announced as the winner, we were stunned.
“It is great to have a small businesses and our hard work recognised at national level.”
There were seven different categories throughout the awards process with some 1,100 entries overall.
All of the businesses had to submit a short piece on how their businesses has managed cashflow to survive in today’s tough economic times, so managing director Steve Jenkins submitted his article.
One of the businesses most significant issues was the bad and late paying of commercial debtors and the repercussions this had on their cashflow.
In response to this issue, the business dramatically improved its cashflow position via three commercial decisions: one procedural, one philosophical and one strategic.
After making these improvements, Made 2 Measure Mirrors is now going from strength to strength.
Presenting the awards on the night was TV retail expert Mary Portas, famous for her show Mary Queen of Shops, who even shared her advice for entrepreneurs at the awards evening.
Made 2 Measure Mirrors aim to offer their customers products that are great value for money which includes mirrors, splashback panes and even wall art.
