Man caused £1,140 worth of damage to Louth shop
A town centre delicatessen had to close for two days to repair the damage carried out by a Skidbrooke man, Skegness Magistrates Court has heard.
Jamie Adrian Mallabone, 26, of West Lane, admitted causing £1,140 worth of damage to Royston’s Deli in Queen Street, Louth.
The court heard that in the early hours of Sunday September 30 windows were broken at the delicatessen and witnesses reported hearing someone shouting ‘Jamie, Jamie’.
An examination of cctv images of the town centre showed Mallabone in the area, although he was not seen breaking the windows.
However, blood on the glass was identified as having come from Mallabone and he was arrested.
He told the police that he and his wife had had an altercation in the shop doorway and he had punched the window in anger. He told the police he was drunk at the time.
Edward Johnson, prosecuting, said the shop had had to close for three days whilst the work to repair the windows was carried out, which had resulted in a loss of business of about £355 and that a further £115 had had to be paid to make the premises secure before the windows had been replaced, which cost £1140.
Mallabone, who was not represented, told the magistrates he had been ‘stupid’.
“I just had a heated argument. I got really upset and angry and damaged the window,” he said.
After hearing that Mallabone was in breach of a suspended prison sentence imposed at Lincoln Crown Court for affray in October 2011, they adjourned the case until March 15 for a pre-sentence report from the Probation Service.
