A charity evening that was held on Saturday (April 5) in aid of the Emma-Jayne Memorial Fund was said to be “the best charity event that organisers have pulled off to date.”
Tony and Ruth Knowles set up the Emma-Jayne Memorial Fund 15 years ago in memory of their daughter Emma-Jayne who died of a brain tumour just shy of her 23rd birthday.
The fundraising couple, who recently received the British Empire Medal, held their charity evening at Sutton Social Club and the event raised £1041.33.
Ruth Knowles said after the event: “We would like to thank everyone who attended the charity evening and all the artists who delivered first class performances.
“A big thank you also goes out to neurosurgeon Anju Bahl who came over from Hull Royal Infirmary.”
This is the hospital where Emma-Jayne was treated which Tony and Ruth have supported for the last 15 years, with their charity crusade still on-going.
