Momentous day for Lincolnshire Wolds Railway

Wednesday 2pm - IT IS a historic day for the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway on Wednesday August 26 when the first public passenger train for more than 47 years will run between Ludborough Station and North Thoresby.

The railway ran its first train in 1998, and has been working hard since then to extend the railway the extra miles to link the two villages.

The arrival in North Thoresby is the culmination of a large number of peoples' efforts, in all weathers, and under all conditions, to make this dream a reality.

At Ludborough Station there is free parking, a shop, small museum, and buffet car The Steaming Kettle.

The railways's David Ambler said: "We look forward to meeting many of our old friends, and hopefully some new ones on this big day for the railway."

The first train will leave Ludborough at 10.45am and arrive in North Thoresby at 11am, departing North Thoresby at 11.10am, and arriving Ludborough at 11.25am.

The trains will then run every hour from 11.45am, following the above times.
