Monks’ Dyke teacher’s run for charities

Trefor Lewis, Geography teacher at Monks’ Dyke Tennyson College, ran 15 miles from the campus in Mablethorpe to the one in Louth, raising over £300. The money will be split between a school in Mozambique, which Mr Barton Head of Geography and World Challenge students helped to set up last year and the charity BEAT which helps people with eating disorders. BEAT became very special to MDTC and the family of Abi Guiblin, a former student, who tragically lost her life last year.

Trefor completed the 15 mile run in a very commendable two hours and 40 minutes.

“I like to do something worthwhile which will benefit others, rather than just letting another birthday drift by. It is wonderful that the school in Mozambique and “Beat” charity can prosper, they are excellent causes with which we have personal links and they are needy and worthy of our support. What I‘ve had to endure is nothing compared to what others suffer.”

Mr Lewis certainly knows how to celebrate ‘special birthdays’- by raising funds to help good causes and this one was definitely a very memorable day, producing a good and lasting impact on the lives of others.
