Thanks to the great generosity of members of the public, Norwich & Peterborough Building Society’s Louth branch has donated £100 each to five different local charities.

N&P’s branch in Mercer Row held a Make a Difference Week campaign in September and announced it was looking to donate £100 to charities and good causes nominated by members of the public.

People just had to say which local good cause they wanted to be helped.

Five different local charities each received a nomination and have now been given a £100 boost.

The charities nominated were:

St Andrews Children’s Hospice

Children’s Charity

Lincolnshire Wolds Riding for the Disabled

Honeysuckle Club

Home-Start East Lindsey

The Honeysuckle Club were recently praised at the Leader’s Champions Community Awards evening for the work they do.

“We were so pleased to see the support members of the public have for charity and that we could make these donations and show some of our local charities a bit of support,” said Claire Corn, N&P Louth’s branch manager.

“Make a Difference Week is a great opportunity for us to help good causes that can often be overlooked for a donation and hear about the charities that are important in our community.”

Make a Difference Week was held throughout the Yorkshire Building Society’s 231 branches and 99 agencies - N&P is part of the Yorkshire Building Society group.

The giveaway saw a total of £127,000 donated by Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation between thousands of good causes.

Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation is the focal point for all the Yorkshire Building Society group’s charitable giving including; Yorkshire, Barnsley, Chelsea and Norwich & Peterborough Building Societies.

The Charitable Foundation’s purpose is to support good causes where the Society’s members and staff live and work, helping to demonstrate the value and support that the Yorkshire Building Society group provides to local communities throughout the UK.

The Foundation is supported financially by the Society, its staff and members, particularly through Yorkshire’s innovative Small Change, Big Difference scheme where over 860,000 members currently donate the pence of their interest to the Foundation.
