North Somercotes man smashed taxi driver’s window after fare refusal
A North Somercotes man smashed the window of a taxi after the driver refused to drive home the group he was with.
Craig Darren Coope, 28, of Eau Bank, North Somercotes admitted damage, when he appeared before magistrates at Skegness on October 16.
Prosecuting, Edward Johnson said Coope was with a group of who approached a taxi driver in Mercer Row, Louth at 2.26am on September 29, and asked him to drive them home.
The taxi driver refused as one of the group had just vomited and Coope said: “I’m going to kick your f****** head.”
Coope them punched the offside driver’s window twice, smashing it.
After the driver rang 999, police attended and Coope was arrested.
In mitigation, Gary Farmer said Coope had been out with friends and had had too much to drink.
He said Coope did not intend to break the window, but he was reckless.
The magistrates ordered Coope to pay compensation of £120 and £85 in court costs.
They also imposed a 12 month condition discharge.
