THINGS are looking up for a school deemed to be requiring ‘significant improvement’.

Mablethorpe Primary School last month received a monitoring visit from Ofsted and in the seven months since the last report has made ‘satisfactory progress’ towards areas highlighted.

Her Majesty’s Inspector Jeremy Spencer noted that the school’s persistent absence had ‘decreased significantly’ in the last year providing a marked improvement in attendance.

It also said teachers are identifying and supporting underachievement more effectively.

School head Catherine Teale has praised the staff, parents and governors for their commitment to supporting the improvement and said it had achieved a ‘fantastic outcome’ for the school.

The school is currently in consultation to become an academy from September this year.
