Pupils at Cordeaux Academy have raised £508.60 for charity in memory of former student Matty Dawson, who tragically died in 2011 at the age of 20. The money will go to CLIC Sargent, a charity that supports young cancer sufferers and their families.

The money will go to CLIC Sargent, a charity that supports young cancer sufferers and their families. Matty’s mum Dorothy, dad Steve and brother Charlie were presented with the cheque on Thursday March 6 at Cordeaux.

The money was raised at various events throughout the year including a whole school talent show, a cake sale, and the annual ‘Matty’s Hat Day’ in which all Cordeaux pupils don their brightest and wackiest hats.

Mum Dorothy said: “It’s a phenomenal amount, so we would like to thank all the Cordeaux students yet again for the money they’ve raised for CLIC Sargent.

“We hope through these efforts we can continue to inspire the children to raise money and to be more aware of cancer in children and teenagers, and appreciate the good that the charity does.”
