Passion play tells the story of Jesus

Rehearsals are gathering steam for the Churches Together in Louth and District passion play which will be staged during Holy Week.

Born With Passion, directed by Peter Maddison, follows the success of last year’s production.

The play begins by exploring some of the events surrounding the birth of Jesus. By the end of the play the tensions felt by Jesus’ friends and enemies have been uncovered – and the story of how Jesus was sentenced to death and executed is told. It has been compiled by The Rev Chris Ray, a United Reformed Minister who has written additional material, together with Mark Harrison, a leader based at Breakfast Church and Tea Church in Grimoldby. It includes sketches produced by Wild Goose, and dance to explore death and resurrection.

Rev Langley Mackrell-Hey, former Chair of Churches Together in Louth and District, said: “The success of last year’s passion play was fantastic. Our advice is to book tickets early to avoid disappointment.”

It is at the Riverhead Theatre on March 25 and 27, at 7.30pm. Call 01507 600350.
