PHOTOS: Weird moth seen in village

Thursday 11.45am - THIS monster moth was spotted by reader Birgit Higgs on the door of the holiday cottage she runs in North Cockerington.

She told us: "I was wondering if one of your readers might be able to identify this moth. I would say the moth's body was approximately one and a half inches long.

"Our holiday cottage Barn Owl Cottage is situated next to our house in Meadow Lane and I spotted the moth when I went across to do some cleaning. It was sitting on the patio doors in the morning but had disappeared by lunchtime."

* Can any readers identify the moth? Have you seen a weird or unusual insect this summer? Email charles.ladbrook@jpress.co.uk
