GERALD Parkes, owner of the Playhouse Cinema in Louth, has donated £500 to the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway’s development fund.
Mr Parkes, who also owns the Parkway Cinema in Cleethorpes, attended the recent Easter Gala at the Ludborough station and was so impressed he wanted to give the money. He said: “I was amazed at the level of enthusiasm of the volunteers.”
He was involved in the the production of classic film the Railway Children and the steam train Sir Berkeley from the movie featured at the event.
The railways’s long term aim is to rebuild the line to the outskirts of Louth. Work has started to extend the track southward as far as Utterby Halt.
