PEOPLE across the Louth and Mablethorpe area are being urged to exercise caution when withdrawing cash, after reports of a ATM scam targeting Lincolnshire.
Lincolnshire Police say the scammers have hit ATMs across the county in recent weeks, using manipulation techniques to prevent the cash from coming out.
Police say people should:
l Contact the immediately if their cash doesn’t immediately appear.
l Call the police on 101 if they see anything untowards, or if any part of the machine falls off when using it.
l Never use an ATM if suspicious people are loitering nearby.
l Try to use debit cards direct when shopping to reduce the need for cash.
l Use ATM cash machines that are inside shops and banks as these may be safer than isolated machines.
If you have been a victim of this type of crime or if you suspect that a crime of this nature is taking place, please ring Lincolnshire Police on 101 giving full details.
