YEAR six pupils at Lacey Gardens Primary School found out first hand the true meaning of charity when the school organised a ‘Big Give’ event.
The event, sponsored by the Reed Foundation gave the children the chance to research local and national charities in-depth and think about what charity means to them.
Pupils were given £15 in vouchers to give to the charity they thought deserved it most.
Managing Director of the Big Give project, a project that provides a secure way for donors to give online, Ashley Bowe, a former pupil of the school said: “It’s really nice to come back and see the children get excited about charity.
“They were really engaged in the project.”
Visitors, staff members and parents also got to vote for their favourite charity that would receive an extra £40 each in funding.
The winning charities were Rej’s Dream, Wishing Well and Dogs Trust.
