Service personnel get free admission at Market Rasen Racecourse
Horse racing and the Royal British Legion, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and Tickets for Troops are coming together on Remembrance Sunday.
Service personnel are being given free admission to Market Rasen Racecourse for its jump racing fixture and family day on Sunday November 11 and spectators are being encouraged to donate Treats for our Troops.
Pip Kirkby, the racecourse’s general manager, said: “We traditionally race on Remembrance Sunday at Market Rasen Racecourse and, as this year the day falls on the 11th of the month, we have decided to make it an extra special occasion for our armed services.
“We are delighted to offer free admission to all servicemen and women – and we know that our visitors will donate generously to ‘Treats for our Troops’, especially with Christmas not being too long now and many service personnel being overseas and away from their families.”
Each member of the armed services or Ministry of Defence staff can obtain two Tattersalls tickets (worth £28) by calling 01673 843434 with their service or MoD number. Tickets must be booked in advance.
During the race meeting, there will be collections by the Royal British Legion.
To entertain the youngsters, there will be appearances by Fifi, Bumble and the Flowertots, plus bouncy castles and face painting.
There will be collection points for Treats for our Troop’. A wide range of goods can be donated, including toiletries and pharmacy items, savoury and sweet snacks, confectionery, recreation games and puzzles, plus Christmas cards, decorations and cake. A full list of potential ‘Treats’ can be found at www.marketrasenraces.co.uk.
