Suspicious behaviour in Holton le Clay

Lincolnshire Police

Lincolnshire Police

Police are warning local retailers to be vigilant after a suspected distraction theft attempt was made in Holton le Clay. Two women entered the Spar store in Louth Road at around 5pm yesterday (Wednesday March 5) with a large bundle of £20 notes and requested to exchange them.

Requesting to exchange large quantities of money whilst trying to distract the cashier is a common tactic used by thieves.

PCSO Sally Read said: “We have had previous incidents of a similar nature where an exchange has taken place, and after the people have left the store it has been noticed that the till is down by a large amount of money.

“Please be extra vigilant and report any suspicious activity to Lincolnshire Police on 101.”

On this occasion, the cashier became suspicious and refused to make the exchange, and the women left the store.

The descriptions of the two females are late 30’s, both Asian appearance, wearing floor length skirts with black hair that was tied back.

Call Lincolnshire Police on 101 if you have any information, quoting incident number 370 of March 5.
