Tetney girl Ella Henderson reaches X Factor finals
The X Factor Judges Houses - St Lucia with Tulisa and guest judge Tinie Tempah
TETNEY girl Ella Henderson has become the first person from the Louth area to reach the live finals of The X Factor after another incredible performance on Saturday.
Ella, 16, wowed judge Tulisa Contostavlos in St Lucia, and joined 16 other acts to do battle for the overall crown in the run up to Christmas.
After performing Jason Mraz’s hit I Won’t Give Up, Ella was put through the mill by Tulisa. The hearts of Ella’s fans would have stopped when
Tulisa told Ella: “Even though you are absolutely amazing so are so many other girls in the category, there are only three spaces.”
But after some delay the judge finally revealed to Ella that she would be going through to the finals.
“You’ve got all the things it takes to be a pop star, you are so ahead of your years,” said the N-Dubz singer.
“You stood out again, I think you are an absolute star.”
Ella’s journey began when she wowed the nation in August while performed her own song in the audition stage before more success with Cher’s Believe two weeks ago.
Ella has been installed as favourite with many bookmakers to win the ITV competition and the subsequent record deal.
“It’s scary, exciting, and nerve wracking,” she said on the show, and afterwards took to Twitter to thank her fans.
“Thank you for this support!! I’ll be counting on you guys!” She said.
District councillor for Tetney, Tony Bridges, said: “We’re all very proud of Ella, we think she can go all the way and win it.
“I watched the last round and my wife Trina was moved to tears, it was very impressive.
“For someone so young Ella has so much quality and presence on stage but she also comes across as very down to earth.
“If she wins it will certainly put Tetney on the map, the sky is the limit for her.”
Readers have also had their say on Ella’s success on the Leader’s Facebook page.
Tracey Shelton said Ella was ‘marvellous’ and ‘a very talented girl and lovely natured’.
Marj Stainton said Ella was a ‘winner all the way’ and June Brett added that she was a ‘born singer’.
