The coast gets ready for the festive season

With just weeks to go until Santa shoots down our chimneys, a mix of festive events are taking place in Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea.

Enjoy some festive fun in Sutton on Sea at the town’s ever popular Christmas fair and late night shopping event.

It will take place on Friday, December 7, from 5.30pm-8pm in Sutton High Street.

The following evening on Saturday, December 8 in Mablethorpe’s High Street, will be a special Christmas event with a Christmas market, street entertainment, live music, Santa’s grotto and more.

The official Christmas lights switch-on will also take place the same night.

The festivities begin from 3pm until 7pm and the High Street will be closed from Seacroft Road to Victoria Road from noon to 9pm.

Already excited about Christmas and want to enjoy the festive cheer early? Then St Mary’s Church in Mablethorpe is hosting a Christmas Tree Festival.

Taking place over two consecutive weekends, Saturday and Sunday, November 17 and 18 and the following weekend, November 24 and 25.

The event will take place from 10am until 4pm both Saturdays and 1pm till 4pm on both Sundays. For more info call 01507 472681.

Not leaving out your loveable dogs, a Christmas Dog Show is happening on Saturday, December 1 and entries will be registered from 10am in the Church Hall, Knowle Street in Mablethorpe.

The Community Spirit group also has a variety of activities taking place. For the kids, why not enter their Christmas card competition for free. with three ages groups of, three-five, six- nine and 10-12.

Make your card using a folded A4 piece of paper with your design on, but please include your name, age and contact phone number inside.

Enteries close on November 29, and can be handed into either Watsons Hardware Stores, in Sutton on Sea High Street, the Co-op in Mablethorpe or The Grange and Links Hotel in Sandilands.

A whole host of events are also taking place on December 1, at The Grange and Links Hotel in Sandilands with a Christmas craft fayre from 11am-4pm and entry is free. For the children, there’s a chance to meet Santa and Mrs Claus with the first 100 children receiving a free gift.

Plus later on in the day from 4pm until 6pm will be a children’s Christmas Party, tickets are £5 per child, if you would like a ticket for your child call 01507 441334.
