Trial date set for man accused of baby’s murder in Sutton on Sea

A man accused of the murder of a 14-month-old baby girl in Sutton on Sea is to stand trial in October.

Darryl Elliott, 30, formerly of Sandringham Drive, Sutton on Sea, has previously pleaded not guilty to the murder of Amelia Bowmar between July 27 and August 1 last year.

Amelia was taken to the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital at Grimsby with a suspected brain injury after allegedly being shaken.

She died 48 hours later after being transferred to Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

At a hearing at Lincoln Crown Court yesterday (Tuesday), Judge Michael Heath fixed the trial to start on October 7 at a venue yet to be decided. The trial is expected to last up to three weeks.

Elliott, who is currently living at an address in Stapleford, Nottingham, was granted conditional bail.
