Update: Cyclist, 14, suffers head injuries in van collision near Skegness
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision
The A52 coast road has reopened after a teenage cyclist suffered head injuries in a collision with a van.
The cyclist, a 14-year-old boy, was injured in the collision at Croft Bank shortly before 3pm this afternoon.
The A52, which stretches up to Sutton on Sea, was closed for a period while police and ambulance teams rushed to the scene.
“We closed the road as a precaution because of potential head injuries,” said a Lincolnshire Police spokesperson.
“He has now arrived at hospital and it appears he is not as injured as first thought.
“An officer with the roads policing unit (RPU) is on his way to the hospital to check on the condition of the boy but his injuries don’t appear to be as serious as first thought.”
The road has now reopened and the van is waiting for recovery.
A full update on the boy’s condition will be made after the RPU officer has made his report.
More information will be published as we get it.
