Update: Man held over death of 14-month-old girl in Sutton on Sea

POLICE continue to hold a local man on suspicion of murder after the death of a 14-month-old girl in Sutton on Sea.

The girl, who has not yet been named, died of a suspected brain injury on Monday night after she was rushed to hospital on Saturday.

A 29-year-old man was arrested and taken to Skegness Police Station where police have extended his detention into the early hours of Thursday, when a further update should be made available.

Police confirmed on Monday afternoon that their heavy presence in Sandringham Drive was dealing with an ongoing incident, but at the time it was unclear what had happened.

People took to the Leader’s Facebook page yesterday to express their sadness on hearing the news. Chantelle Fenton said: “Rest in peace little angel,” while Sandra Pitwell added: “Sleep in heavenly peace little darling.”
