A 56-year-old woman has been taken to hospital with neck, chest and back injuries after her car went into a ditch at Saltfleetby St Peter this morning (Tuesday).

The woman’s silver Rover went into the ditch on the Main Road, B1200, shortly before 11am today.

Fire and rescue crews from Louth and North Somercotes had to cut the roof off the car to free the woman, who is from Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.

She was taken to Grimsby’s Diana Princess of Wales Hospital but her condition is not thought to be life threatening.

Police and ambulance crews also attended and the road, though passable at first, was eventually closed and reopened at around 12.15pm.

11.38am update - A woman has sustained chest injuries after a crash on the B1200 Main Road at Saltfleetby St Peter this morning.

Fire crews from Louth and North Somercotes, police and the ambulance service were called at 10.45am today (Tuesday) to reports that a car had gone into the ditch.

Lincolnshire Police say the silver Rover car went into the ditch just before Saltfleetby and that fire crews are trying to cut the roof off the vehicle to free the driver.

The woman driving the car, which is registered to the Leamington Spa area, has sustained chest injuries but it is not clear how serious the injuries are at present.

Lincolnshire Police’s Roads Policing Unit say the road is currently passable but are asking motorists to avoid the area at present if possible.
