Utterby utterly delighted with new minibus

Utterby Primary Academy is now able to transport pupils to and from the isolated school site, thanks to a new mini- bus which has been provided by the Academies Enterprise Trust.

Executive headteacher Helen Redmond said that she hopes the new facility will help to increase pupil numbers, while reducing the school’s overall carbon footprint.

The school has used the bus for school trips since last autumn, but has now employed a fully-qualified driver, who picks up and drops off pupils from Cordeaux in Louth, as well as the Covenham villages.

The minibus also transports pupils to Cordeaux Academy for their IT lessons.

Mrs Redmond said: “The bus is working towards reducing the carbon footprint of the school, and we’ve also got a proposed ‘net zero’ building project in place that will become the school hall and will be completely eco-friendly.”

Business manager Karen Grant added: “In the past, we’ve had parents who have looked around and loved the school, but the only negative factor for them is that they’ve got to get their children here.

“Now that we offer this service, hopefully it will make us a little more accessible.”
