The crowd met at The Gatherums where they were welcomed by Mayor of Louth Councillor Sue Locking, who had earlier hosted a special party for local nonagenarians and visited nursing homes around the town.

The Zero Degrees Chorus and the crowd joined together to sing a few patriotic songs ahead of the beacon-lighting at 7.45pm, which was followed by a rousing rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ and the National Anthem.
