Video: Mayor of Louth celebrates town’s success in East Midlands In Bloom

Waiting for Video...

LOUTH has achieved a fantastic Silver Gilt Rosette in its first ever entry into the East Midlands in Bloom awards.

Silver gilt is above silver and just one below gold, which the town will be going for next year!

Judges visited the town in July and rated it for horticultural achievement, environmental responsibility, and community participation in the large town category.

The results were announced last week where Trevor Marris and Mayor Coun Mrs Jill Makinson-Sanders attended a special awards ceremony. The judges have also produced a report on Louth to give the group pointers to work on for the year ahead.

Alastair McPhie-Meiklejon, Louth in Bloom Chairman, said: “We are delighted with receiving a silver gilt award for Louth’s first entry into the East Midlands in Bloom competition. This is yet another great achievement for the town. The next step is going for gold in next year’s competition and we want the whole community to join in.

“We want to hear from gardening clubs, garden enthusiasts and people passionate about where they live. We want to hear about any growing projects that people are working on and about any special places and gardens people enjoy spending time in. We want to be able to show the judges even more of what Louth has to offer in next year’s competition. We are also keen to work with shop keepers to ensure more hanging baskets are hung in the town.”

People interested in becoming part of Louth in Bloom can contact Samantha Phillips, Town Partnership Coordinator on 07917628149 or email samantha.phillips@e-lindsey.gov.uk.
