VIDEO: Motorbike travelling the A153 from Horncastle to Louth

Waiting for Video...

THIS video courtesy of iBiker shows a motorbike travelling on the A153 from Horncastle to Louth.

This video ride-through taken from the iBiker smartphone app features the A153 Horncastle to Louth route.

The ride-through enables motorcyclists to get an experienced police biker’s view of the route, with commentary on how to ride the route safely and responsibly; potential danger areas to watch out for; and hints and tips on how not to become a casualty statistic.

iBiker is a free app for motorcyclists across the world and available on iPhone and Android. Funded by the Department for Transport, the motorbiking community has played an important role in the development of the app - through the DfT’s Think Bike Facebook page (35,000 fans), the bikers chose the name of the app, the design, and some of the features. The app features former double World Superbike Champion James Toseland, and enables bikers to:

Plan, plot and save their rides/routes

Highlight points of interests, including pubs, cafes, cash points, petrol stations and meeting points.

Rate routes.

Share all that information with the motorbiking community/friends via Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and other social networking channels.

Check the weather along their routes within the app.

Uses British EuroRAP intelligence provided by the Road Safety Foundation that highlights “the most risky roads and routes in Britain” to bikers.

Provides video ride throughs of routes around the country and specific collision hotspots that will let bikers familiarise themselves with a route before they go and ride it.

Allows bikers to sign up to BikeSafe through the app (also the ERS).

Features James Toseland on a number of myth busting and bike safety videos.
