Video: Worthy causes handed £1,000 boosts at Louth Cattle Market
Two worthy causes in Lincolnshire have been boosted by just over £1,000 each thanks to Louth Cattle Market’s annual fatstock show.
The Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance and the Lincolnshire Rural Support Network split a grand total of £2,203 between them, money raised at the show in early December.
On the day there were a number of charity events, including raffles, guess the weight of the cattle, fancy dress and a charity auction.
Keith Murfin, volunteer fundraiser for the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, collected £1,101.50 for the charity.
He said: “We’re really grateful for donations like this, we rely entirely on fundraising.
“The money will go towards the general maintenance of the helicopter.”
Alison Twiddy, project manager for the Lincolnshire Rural Support Network, collected the same amount on behalf of her charity.
The network provides health screening at the cattle markets in Louth and Newark, and gives tenancy and legal advice to farmers and rural residents around the area.
Dan Jobe, of Masons Chartered Surveyors, presented the two charities with their cheques at the cattle market on Thursday.
The auction also marked the sad recent death of auctioneer Neil Bolton, a touching eulogy was read out and a respectful minutes silence was observed.
