It’s been all go at the Hedgehog Care Centre in Authorpe.
February usually heralds the Mrs Tiggywinkle’s washing line sale, kindly organised annually by Kevin Watson to raise money for the centre, but unfortunately not this year.
Elaine Drewery, the centre owner, explained: “We choose winter when A&E patients have steadied and many convalescents have gained enough weight to drift into hibernation, leaving in time for the weeks of sale preparation.
“Not so in 2013! We have nearly 200 patients reluctant to sleep because of confusing weather.”
All the cages are full and new arrivals are camping in boxes throughout the house!
“I am worn out and my colleague, Stacey, is pregnant,” Elaine continued.
“With round the clock hedgehog nursing, time and space are scarce so although Hogsfam clothes and bric-a-brac are available as always, Mrs Tiggywinkle’s refreshments, raffle and lucky dip day is postponed until next year.
“For this year we just wish for good health, peace and tranquility to all.”
