Voyeur caught filming children on Mablethorpe beach
A man who filmed children on Mablethorpe beach was caught thanks to a mum’s vigilance, Lincoln Crown Court was told.
The woman noticed Terence Pearson taking an interest as her youngsters, aged four and two were innocently playing naked in a rock pool on the beach.
Andrew Scott, prosecuting, said she’d been warned of a man filming youngsters. She followed Pearson and updated police of his movements.
Mr Scott said: “Police attended and Pearson was stopped. He said he had a camcorder. He was asked what was on it and said he had naked pictures of children.”
Police searched Pearson’s home, finding evidence he had been been filming other children and transferring the images to a CD. Pearson admitted an infatuation with children.
Pearson, 60, of Aqua Drive, Mablethorpe, admitted two charges of taking an indecent image of a child and a charge of making an indecent image. The offences took place between September 2009 and September 4, 2012 The court heard he had a past conviction in December 2009 for a similar offence.
Liz Harte, defending, said there was no suggestion of Pearson directly approaching children or trying to distribute images. Pearson was given nine months’ jail, suspended for two years with supervision, and a sex offenders’ rehab course. He was placed on the sex offenders’ register for five years.
