Warning of deaths at danger junction in Mablethorpe

Fears are growing that somebody ‘will be killed’ at a busy junction in Mablethorpe after it was the site of a second crash in as many months.
Concerns have been raised after a collision between a silver Vauhall Corsa and a red Corsa on Monday evening in George Street at the junction of Knowle Street.
The crash on Monday happened at around 5.40pm and one driver, a 46-year-old Sutton on Sea woman was taken to the Diana Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby and the other driver was treated on the scene, both sustained minor back and neck injuries.
The front seat passenger of the silver Corsa also suffered minor injuries.
But a George Street resident has warned that next time the motorists involved may not be so lucky.
He said: “Everyone is getting absolutely sick of the rising number of accidents happening in this area, it’s becoming too regular and it is a really bad junction.
“It keeps happening, I’m fed up with it and someone will be killed there one day. It’s about time that the county council did something about it.”
A crash at the same junction only took place a month ago in January which involved a red Landrover Discovery and a blue Mercedes Lorry.
The lorry nearly crashed into a house, but disaster was averted thanks to a silver Vauxhall Astra that was parked outside the residence which took the full force of the hit.
Dean Myhill, Area Highways Manager for Lincolnshire County Council confirmed highways chiefs are monitoring the issue.
“We’re aware of the concerns of local residents and have met with them at the site,” he said.
“At the moment we’re working with the Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership to see if there’s anything we can do to reduce the risk of accidents on the road.”
Are you concerned about the junction? What can be done to improve it?
