Memories that could be lost forever are to be recorded for posterity.
People are being invited to share and capture Lincolnshire Wolds wartime memories as part of a joint protect coordinated by Down Your Wold and Lincolnshire Remembrance: Memories and Memorials community heritage projects.
The Lincolnshire Wolds Wartime Memories project team is welcoming people to come forward if they are interested in taking part in oral history training, which involves using special equipment and techniques to gather people’s wartime memories. The project is also keen to hear from people who have a story to tell or who may know a neighbour or friend who has wartime accounts or anecdotes.
Many memories will be used in a special Lincolnshire Wolds in Wartime exhibition, supported by Louth Town Council, which will take place at The Sessions House, Louth on September 13 during the national Heritage Open Days initiative. Recordings will also be available online.
Sam Phillips, Down Your Wold Project Officer, said: “Oral history is extremely valuable and helps bring the past to life. Volunteers will be playing a very important role in preserving Lincolnshire’s history.”
The first oral history training event will take place on Monday April 7 in Louth from 10.30am to 4pm. Spaces are limited so booking is essential through Cath Pike by calling 01522 554959 or by emailing email@example.com by Thursday April 3.
