Yellow warning for frequent snow showers on Wednesday and Thursday
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for further snow in the Louth area on Wednesday and Thursday.
The return of sub zero temperatures brought snow flurries and showers into the area over the weekend and into today (Monday).
Along the coast accumulations have been relatively small so far.
But the new warning suggests that more frequent showers are likely in the area come the middle of the week - although accumulation levels could fluctuate greatly from one town to the next.
They’ve warned that snow showers will affect parts of the eastern side of England from early Wednesday through until Thursday afternoon.
The MET Office’s chief forecaster said: “Brisk northerly winds will bring frequent snow showers, some of them heavy, into parts of the eastern side of England during the mid-week period.
“These showers are expected to turn heavier and more frequent during the course of Wednesday before easing and eventually dying out later on Thursday.
“Greatest accumulations are expected over higher ground where temporary blizzard conditions are likely during heavier showers.
“At lower levels accumulations are likely to be much more variable and temporary in nature, especially in coastal areas and during the hours of daylight.
“Meanwhile, icy patches forming after dark where showers have fallen during the day are expected to be additional hazard on roads and pavements.”
