Young Americans are at Birkbeck College
Birkbeck College in North Somercotes will once again be hosting the internationally renowned Young Americans this month.
The organisation which operates in 16 countries has run music workshops at Birkbeck College for over 200 young people during the past nine years with amazing success.
Their tutoring builds confidence and develops performance skills so that students can take to the stage and sing alongside the professionals.
This year, an intensive weekend of singing and dancing workshops will take place on Saturday February 16 and Sunday February 17, culminating in a performance at The Embassy Theatre in Skegness.
The workshops are open to youngsters aged between eight and 18 and the only qualification needed is enthusiasm.
The Young Americans were founded almost 50 years ago in Hollywood. Among its 3,000 alumni are professionals in music education, fine arts, motion pictures, television, radio, Broadway and recording. All are dedicated to the proposition that music and dance, along with the enthusiasm, optimism and good will of student performers, will ‘make the world a better place’.
To work with the Young Americans the cost is £60 inclusive of transport to Skegness, a t-shirt, Sunday afternoon meal and all workshops. Contact Birkbeck College on 01507 358859 or download the booking form from www.birkbeck.lincs.sch.uk
