MAJOR Tim Hayday, Contingent Commander of King Edward VI Grammar School Combined Cadet Force, has been awarded a Long Service Medal.
The medal was awarded for 12 years of service. Major Hayday re-founded the Combined Cadet Force at the school in 2000 and under his leadership it has gone from strength to strength. The first parade evening had 20, very inexperienced, cadets, and today can boast a contingent strength of 150 cadets.
Major Hayday was presented with his medal by Headteacher James Lascelles in front of the contingent, and there was also a flypast by a chipmunk of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
