Louth born spaceman next in line for special honour

LOUTH born Nasa spaceman Michael Foale is next in line to receive the special British Interplanetary Society Pin.

The silver lapel badge is being given to all UK born space farers who get to orbit the earth.

The British Interplanetary Society has commissioned 10 special silver pins.

These pins have been awarded to recognise the achievements of some extraordinary people, but also to promote human spaceflight in the UK.

The next recipient of the BIS pin is most likely to be Michael Foale as he was one of Britains most experienced astronauts.

Dr Foale was born in Louth and has logged over 374 days in orbit.
