John Darke Ltd sales director, Paul Wooding, took on Josh Cooney (19) as an apprentice last September after approaching the Wolds College. Three Motor Vehicle students went along for a trial, and Josh was offered the 2-3 year apprenticeship position.

At the beginning of this year, Ben Hunt (21) from Saltfleetby was taken on as an apprentice, and Callum Stephens (24) from Louth was also hired by the company
as a trainee technician.

Paul Wooding told the Leader: “John Darke has invested in young, local people who can help us grow as a business going forward.

“We had a very good 2016, and we have recruited for a good future ahead.”

Paul added: “It is fantastic to work with the Wolds College here in Louth. The facilities are brilliant and they offer ideal opportunities on our doorstep - it can be difficult to find good apprentices!”

“We approached the college three months prior to hiring Josh, allowing him to finish his course before starting his career with us and receiving additional training.
