The weekend saw the end of an area at the Brackenborough Hotel in Louth after one of its longest standing staff members called it a night for the final time.

Ken Hill hung up his night porter’s cap after 15 years at the family-run hotel, owned by Ashley Lidgard, marked by a small farewell party with the presentation of a wristwatch as a token of appreciation and thanks.

“Though he may not have been that well-known to our daytime clientele, Ken Hill has provided us with 15 years of loyal service as a night porter,” said Mr Lidgard.

“This particular role is always one of the most challenging to fill, as it places the person in a position of total responsibility for the guests, and the entire building, including fire safety and so much more.

“Ken was unwavering in his reliability and diligence, and although we are very sorry to see him leave our close-knit team, we wish him all the best for the future.”
