Louth Household Waste Recycling Centre hours cut

CUTS to the opening hours of Louth Household Waste Recycling Centre came into effect on Sunday.

It is now just open four days a week, Friday to Monday from 9am to 4pm. Critics of the move have said they fear it could lead to more flytipping.

Lincolnshrie County Council has said ‘there remains flexibility to review these arrangements as necessary’.

Coun Lewis Strange, Executive Member for Waste Services and Green Issues, said: “Despite the changes, I’m sure people will carry on doing all they can to help boost our tremendous recycling levels even higher. Almost 53 per cent of household waste is now recycled, compared to a national average of 42 per cent.”
