A PROPOSAL for a new residential development on land to the west of the car park in Newmarket in Louth has been turned down by East Lindsey District Council.

The application for seven new homes was submitted by a Northern Ireland firm, Michael Burroughs Associates, on behalf James Geddis Contractors.

It did not go before ELDC’s planning committee but was determined under delegated powers by senior case officer Andy Allen who took the view that the scheme would be ‘obtrusive’ and ‘overbearing’ in this part of the town’s conservation area.
