Louth in Bloom hope to achieve gold this year, after only being five marks off in last year’s East Midlands in Bloom competition. This will be the third year Louth has entered the competition, and the past two years both saw the town achieve a Silver Gilt award.

This year, newly elected Deputy Mayor, Sue Locking, has taken the reins as Chair for the Louth in Bloom Group. She is keen to see the town thrive and to show the judges just how great a community Louth is.

Sue said: “We know we have some great community organisations in our town who are doing all sorts to keep the town special and looking attractive.”

“Louth in Bloom isn’t all about pretty flowers; it is about how our town looks to visitors, how the community works together, and what projects we have instigated to improve the town.

“Once the judging date has been announced, we will need everyone to pull together to help keep the town clean and tidy. Show your pride in our town by picking up and binning litter and pulling up the odd weed which grows on our pavement edges.”

On judging day, the group will have just three hours to impress the judges.

The judges will look at all aspects of the town including the environment, recycling facilities, tidiness, planting, public art, education, community spirit, and local heritage, so if you have something you would like the judges to see, or would like to volunteer in any way, contact Sue Locking on 07818 508 798.
