A woman from Louth has been chosen from hundreds of entries as one of Britain’s 15 most hopeless cooks.

Holly Mapletoft will take part in Kenwood’s annual
‘Disaster Chef’ competition, which will see her try to hone her catering skills in the hope of winning a £3,000 kitchen makeover from Symphony Kitchens.

Holly, a self-catering holiday business owner, readily admits that the only person she should be left to cater for in the kitchen is herself as she admits she isn’t the best at following recipes and often goes off on a bit of a tangent.

Her ability to get
side-tracked in the middle of baking can also cause her to leave dishes in her AGA for anything up to 48 hours.

Holly will compete against 14 other disastrous chefs in the hope of turning her culinary skills around.

Her journey can be followed at www.kenwood
disaster-chef.com where visitors can watch her cooking skills and confidence grow over the next six weeks, before she goes head to head in the Disaster Chef live final.

Here the contestants will compete for the £4,000 prize package, which also includes a cookery course and £500 of kitchen appliances, in front of judges including former Cold Feet and Spooks star, Hermione Norris.

Actress and culinary novice, Hermione Norris, said: “It’s fantastic to see such a large number of entrants for the Kenwood Disaster Chef competition, but who knew there were so many terrible cooks out there?

“I wish the 15 contestants the best of luck and will be following their journey online, hoping to pick up some tips myself along the way. I am excited to see the trials and tribulations of the contenders over the coming weeks and even more excited about the end results.”

The final will take place in Central London in December.
