Louth man hit with football ban after arrest

A man from Louth has been hit with a three-year football banning order after he was arrested in possession of a “firework/flare” at a football match in Cambridge. Paul Pearson, 41, of Kidgate in Louth, was arrested following the Cambridge United vs Grimsby Town match on Saturday February 15.

Pearson was arrested for being in possession of a firework/flare at a sporting event, and was taken into a local police custody suite in Cambridge.

On Tuesday March 4, Pearson appeared at Cambridge Magistrates Court and was handed a three year football banning order, a £320 fine, £85 costs, and he must surrender his passport on days when certain matches take place outside of the UK.
